It’s clear that the use of pronouns is evolving, a testament to the queer community’s fluid approach to language and the very personal way in which pronouns can express someone’s gender identity. While such combinations can be confusing to the uninitiated, being open to learning can make a huge difference – and taking the time to learn the right pronouns is a way of making queer, non-binary and trans people feel comfortable, respected and valued. Some people may avoid pronoun use altogether, instead asking to be referred to with a first name in place of any gendered pronouns. However, what’s still less understood is the fact that some individuals, particularly those who are non-binary or gender fluid, use more than one set of pronouns to describe themselves, for example she/they or they/he. Two years on, the “they” pronoun has become increasingly well known, with celebrities such as Sam Smith, Jonathan Van Ness, Demi Lovato and Indya Moore publicly claiming their non-binary identities. In 2019, Merriam-Webster chose the singular, gender neutral pronoun “they” as their word of the year.

Unlike on an asteroid, the agency says, its lander isn't able to nudge slowly down to the moon's surface, and rise again if it's necessary to restart the process. JAXA has previously succeeded in placing a probe on an asteroid. "The landing accuracy of conventional lunar landers is several or sometimes a dozen kilometers," according to JAXA's press kit about the lander's mission. The lander is meant to reach a spot that's within 100 meters of its target: sloped ground next to the Shioli crater near the moon's Mare Nectaris (Sea of Nectar). Part of the SLIM mission's goal is to practice "pinpoint landing" - reaching highly specific targets on the lunar surface, putting landers in areas that may hold resources or unique geology. The parts were 3D-printed with aluminum, creating a spongelike grid that deforms when it comes in contact with the ground. When the lander touched down on the moon, it was to be cushioned by five unique shock absorbers that look like a cross between chain mail and an inverted geodesic dome.
